Patagonia

I’ve wanted to visit Patagonia since I saw Francis Mallmann in Chefs Table on Netflix. It felt like I was watching the last truly wild place on earth. Patagonia's beauty is not manicured; it's a beauty that comes from the contrast between the harsh elements and the fragile ecosystems that somehow thrive against all odds.

Patagonia is more than a destination; it's a pilgrimage for those seeking to disconnect from the day-to-day grind and reconnect with the Earth. For me at least. It’s where the base of the Andes meets the southern oceans. A place you can never stumble upon, but somewhere that needs to be sought out.

When you are there; you feel truly alone.

We were lucky enough to visit a few weeks before high season, meaning; we virtually had this beautiful part of the world to ourselves. We stayed somewhere that blended into the hills with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and had endless Pisco Sours brought to us by the fire. Hotel Lago Grey was the spot. Outnumbered by the staff 2-1, we were treated like royalty.

This place will put everything into perspective. Your problems, placed against the mountains and the storms, feel insignificant. I can’t speak highly enough of this part of the world.

I will say this: if you plan on going, plan for the unexpected.
